Follow the unresolved task
After a video visit, a person may need a laboratory test, physical examination, or referral. The important question is not only whether it was recommended, but who arranges it and who reviews the result.
A recommendation in a note may not mean an order has been placed or an appointment scheduled.
A short handoff check
- What needs to happen next?
- Who is responsible for arranging it?
- Where should it happen?
- How and when will the result be discussed?
- Whom should the patient contact if the step does not occur?
These questions are especially useful when services belong to different organizations.
Do not assume every record follows automatically
The receiving clinician may need the relevant note, test report, or images. A patient can ask how those will be transferred without taking responsibility for every internal process.
Close the loop after the visit
Check the instructions for agreement with the conversation. If they conflict or omit an important step, ask for clarification. The goal is a care sequence people can follow, not a collection of individually successful appointments that leave the next decision unassigned.
