Follow one reading through the system
A device takes a measurement. The result may need to reach a phone, upload to a server, pass a processing rule, and enter a team's queue. A delay or failure can occur at several points.
Even a successful upload does not confirm that a clinician has seen it.
Questions that define the service
- Who reviews readings, and during which hours?
- What triggers contact, and how soon is contact expected?
- What happens if data stop arriving?
- Which number should be used for technical help?
- What should happen for concerning symptoms regardless of the device reading?
The service should provide a clear plan rather than leaving the patient to infer it from a dashboard color.
Symptoms still need their own route
Do not wait for an automated alert during a suspected emergency. Use the appropriate emergency service. A normal-looking or absent reading does not establish that urgent symptoms are harmless.
For routine monitoring, agreeing on response expectations can reduce confusion and unnecessary repeated checking. The device is one part of a care process. Its value depends on measurement quality, communication, and a defined response, not just how often it sends data.
